Even though the person of Count Of Monte Christo is fictional, undoubtedly history knew many real prisoners, political prisoners, and also metaphorical prisoners, victims of the systems of intrigues who were innocent and seek for truth and justice.
The history of the Monte Christo tells, us that it is important to stay noble and faithful to your principles no matter what.

The Château d’If is a fortress located on the Île d’If, the smallest island in the Frioul archipelago, situated about 1.5 kilometers offshore from Marseille in southeastern France. Built-in the 16th century, it later served as a prison until the end of the 19th century. The fortress was demilitarized and opened to the public in 1890. It is famous for being one of the settings of Alexandre Dumas’s adventure novel The Count of Monte Cristo.

The fortress soon became a virtually inescapable prison due to its location and the fast-moving currents that rendered even the strongest swimmers unable to make the 1,500m swim.
