Today millions of children are on the frontlines of conflict. Despite progress in some areas, the trends over recent years are of increasing violations and increasing numbers of children affected by conflicts. While 2020 has been dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic, that should not mask the devastation conflict is having on children’s lives.Last year alone, more than a third of the children injured in wars were caused by explosive weapons. Many of these children were victims of airstrikes, shelling, landmines, and other explosive weapons used in populated areas. The impact of explosive weapons on children is devastating and lifelong, robbing families of their hopes and their ability to access vital services, and often profoundly altering the direction of a child’s life.Statistics from the latest ”Save the Children” report – Killed and Maimed: A generation of violations against children in conflict.Photo from the photo exhibition „Children at War”.
