Women Leaders in Peacebuilding: Anti-Landmine Action & PTSD Recovery
Another fruitful day at the United Nations.
For several years I have participated in the NGO CSW Forum held at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
As a humanitarian, initiator of the global campaign and movement against anti-personnel landmines “One Mine One Life”, and a member of the Independent Delegation of Ukrainian Women to the UN, I dedicate this time to drawing attention to the global landmine problem and the devastating impact landmines have on civilians around the world. At the same time, I highlight the dramatic situation in war-affected Ukraine, including the extensive landmine contamination of its territory and the consequences for women and children. I also use this opportunity to emphasize the importance of educating the youngest generation about peace, safety, and responsible global citizenship. During this time in New York, the official premiere of my new book, Young ChangeMakers – Stories, also took place. Already this Friday, a parallel event that I am organizing will be held: “Women Leaders in Peacebuilding: Anti-Landmine Action & PTSD Recovery.”
This initiative is strengthened by the leadership of women from Ukraine and Japan.
During the parallel event, short excerpts from the documentary Echoes in Silence – about Cambodia, the value of peace, and the experiences of landmine survivors, a project I am involved in as producer and writer, will also be presented.
