It’s an evening after a long day in Cairo
It’s an evening after a long day in Cairo.
Stowarzyszenie Mali Bracia Ubogich in their email reminded me, that today is International Volunteers Day. This year’s theme – “If Everyone Did…” centers on ‘everyone’ and focuses on collective action to work towards Sustainable Development Goals.
I want to thank from the bottom of my heart to all the volunteers who work globally to help the vulnerable and those in need.
I met many volunteers who risk their lives and health to bring light to the places forgotten by the world, in conflict zones, and in the poorest areas.
Sometimes you are too tired.
Sometimes you are alone in your faith, that the world can be a better place.
Always remember, that you make a huge change.
Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.
Giving your time, love, and attention to the children is sometimes something that they need.
Today I visited 40 wonderful children in the old part of the town. Most of them are orphanages without both parents, some lost their mother or father. I also met the parents of some of them. Mother of 3, who’s doing her best to be a mother and father at the same time. They live in challenging conditions. Many of these children have various health issues.
Imad, who has worked with me for many years, visits them every month with the necessary support.
Today I brought them presents, as tomorrow is St. Nicholas Day.
Later, we visited the children in the hospital. Tomorrow we will be in an orphanage and hospital, outside Cairo.
We also engage others to support these places.
Just a small puzzle of this beautiful world, which still needs to learn to be more emphatic. We are all connected. We are all one.
